National Call on Violence & Trafficking, April 2

Tuesday, April 2, you are invited to participate in a “National Call on Violence & Trafficking.” The call will be at 4 p.m. ET and is being conducted by the General Board of Church & Society’s work areas on Women’s Advocacy and Children’s Rights.

Featured speakers on the call will be:

  • Roberta Valente, a consultant for the National Council of Juvenile & Family Court Judges and the National Domestic Violence Hotline. She will briefing on the recently passed Violence Against Women’s Act (VAWA). She will focus on provisions under the new VAWA reauthorization.
  • Cory Smith, senior policy council for the Alliance to End Slavery & Trafficking. He will share implications of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, which was passed in the U.S. Senate by overwhelming bipartisan support. He will also address next steps in the work to combat human trafficking.
